Inglesina Zippy

Inglesina Zippy

If you have a baby or a young child, chances are you’re going to want to purchase a stroller to use when taking your child out and about. Generally, a stroller should be light enough to move around, but sturdy enough to hold up the baby and resist the wear and tear associated with the use that a stroller gets on a daily basis.

At 17 pounds, the Inglesina Zippy is lighter than other similar strollers. It’s among the best standard strollers, particularly if easy folding and handling are key concerns. There’s a special mechanism that lets you fold the Zippy with one hand – a great plus when juggling all the supplies needed for a trip with the baby. It can also fully recline, making it great for newborns. In addition, all of the seat padding is washable and it has a universal car seat adapter that will fit most infant car seats.

The 27-pound Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe is a bit heavier than other strollers, but it’s considered to be a good low cost stroller. It’s especially noted for its durability and ease of use. It, too, has a fully reclining seat for newborns, as well as a rotating canopy and cup holder. It doesn’t have the same level of bells and whistles found in the other models, but many parents are willing to trade these features because of its economical price.

With a list price of around $900, the Bugaboo Cameleon and the Bee Stroller seem dedicated more to trendy design and status than being a good, working stroller. But the strollers are compact and move very well, plus they’re both comfortable and strong. For taller parents, there’s an adjustable handlebar, which can be a real plus in terms of comfort. Also, the seat is reversible, so you can have the baby facing you instead away from you. However, despite all these perks, you should know that you can spend much less and still get a very good stroller.

Convenient and easy to use, the Maclaren Techno XT umbrella stroller is about 15 pounds, making it among the lightest strollers available today. It too has a fully reclining seat for newborns that need to lie flat. This company is known for its high level of quality, although there have been complaints about thin padding and a tendency for the stroller to fall over when empty with this model. However, these drawbacks are offset by its somewhat moderate price, at least when compared with the Bugaboo Cameleon or the Bugaboo Bee.

Another good option for an umbrella stroller is the Graco Mosaic. This stroller has a narrow build, front wheels that swivel and is fully compatible with the Graco line of infant car seats. Coming in at about 20 pounds, this stroller is right between the lightweight strollers and full-featured ones mentioned above. On the negative side, some parents say that it’s hard to maneuver on rough ground, making it less than perfect for jaunts in the park. Others say that it’s hard to maneuver with one hand and the wheels squeak. However, these complaints should be measured against the moderate price and its utility, when compared with other products in the widely available Graco line.
