Regular Ergo vs Ergo Sport?
I am getting an Ergo baby carrier and would like other mom's input on which Ergo to get? I have a 2 1/2 year old of average height and weight..We live in Western NY and he isn't too fond of walking in the snow..We are living in town now and I would like to be able to get out and about during the upcoming winter season..Strollers are out of the picture so I am set on the Ergo since its weight "limit" is a lot higher than normal baby carriers..I would like to know your input on which one to get either the regular or the sport??
I am planning on making a thick poncho type cover to go over my toddler and I with 2 head holes and hoods so we don't have to really worry about the big bulky jackets...I am 5'1" and roughly 115 pounds...So I probably don't need to go with the sport if those are really the only differences there are...Thanks rainwriterm...
Edit: Awesome! That sounds really creative. I was wondering how uncomfortable it might be to wear the carrier over a coat rather than right against your body, but you were on top of that. Good luck!
Are you planning on wearing the carrier over a heavy, puffy winter coat, or a slimmer coat? How slim are you? It looks like the biggest difference would be that the Sport accommodates a bigger waist. (It accommodates more height through the shoulders too, but I don't know if that will be as applicable).
I know you're not very heavy, so I don't imagine that you'd need the extra 5 inches that the Sport offers (43 inches should be plenty, even with your puffy coat, right?) But, the Sport only goes down to 30 inches at the waist instead of 25 like the regular. If you're pretty slim and want to wear it with out your coat, it might not go down small enough for your waist.
The rest of the differences are pretty trivial: the regular has a zippered pocket and the sleeping hood stays attached while the Sport has a snapped pocket and the hood comes off. I think that, unless you have a really big puffy coat that you'll be wearing him over, plus a couple of layers, or if you're really slim, it won't make much of a difference either way.
